The Australia Post Superannuation Scheme is a superannuation scheme for all permanent Australia Post employees. It provides members with a defined benefit on retirement which is equal to the accrual rate multiplied by Final Average Salary multiplied by years of service. Final Average Salary is the average salary earned over the three years immediately preceding retirement. The accrual rate is 14.3% per annum. Members are not required to contribute to the scheme but may make voluntary pre- or post-tax contributions to the accumulation section of the fund. These contributions will grow at the fund earning rate and will be paid to the member as an additional benefit on retirement. Members may retire from the fund after age 60 and receive their retirement benefit. The benefit is paid as a lump sum benefit.
